The Canadian Pharmacy Association’s decision to ban Viagra, the generic version of the drug, is a victory for men’s health, says the association, but the move is in response to the widespread erection-causing issue.

In the past few weeks, a major pharmacist at the University of Toronto in Ontario said he had ordered a “bulk supply of Viagra” for sale at a pharmacy on Toronto’s North Shore. He said the pills had the “highest potential for abuse” and was being sold online in Canada.
The association said the change will help men avoid buying more than 100 pills that could contain the drugs in question. It also said the “largest price ever” had been ordered for Viagra, saying that was a good first step.
The Association added that it was “very concerned about the safety and public health risks associated with this practice.”
“We have been working with the Health Canada and Health Canada’s regulatory body,” said the association’s spokesperson, Dr. Paul Kavaler.
“The Canadian Pharmacy Association’s decision to ban Viagra from the market would not be an end to the practice,” he said in an interview. “It would only be part of a broader strategy of reducing the risk of the misuse of the drug.
“These actions would help avoid more than 100,000 men being put on this prescription every day,” Kavaler said.
The pharmacy association has already put out a statement to the media that it has reviewed the decision and was reviewing its website. A spokesperson for Health Canada said that the pharmacy association “is working to ensure that we remain available to customers and help them avoid misuse.”
“We have the power to ban,” said Kavaler, who said he would not be taking any action against the pharmacy association for the drug’s use.
“Any change to the law is a decision that will be takenas timely and as swiftly as possible.”
